The Privacy Dilemma
Your private life is something we all hold to be special and protect it as much as we can, but with the advent of social media in its present form, that is more and more difficult to control. Social media is presently delivered in a very public way, and anything you say or do on the major megacorporations is considered fair game to extract as much about you as they possibly can. There is no guarantee that any social media platform will protect your date from hacking, governmental demands or any other breach of your personal privacy. You can be pretty sure anything they about you will be sold without any second thoughts or privacy considerations.
As political systems try to impinge more and more onto your rights and privileges, that problem will become more and more difficult to navigate. Now, don't get me wrong, there are definite advantages for many people who are seeking their 15 minutes of fame to use social media to promote their ideas, convictions, products and opinions to as wide an audience as they can. But in that platform, there is minimal control of how your posts are delivered, if they even are, to the public at large.
Since present social media is so public, many people have been put off of the platforms simply because they are not willing to broadcast their moments, private and special, to the world. They would much prefer to spread their personal occasions to a much smaller and exclusive group of people who membership are under their direct control. Family groups, special friends and other circles of people want to control what they display and control how long that data is available.
The internet is forever, at least as far as social media is concerned. There is no control of your posts, once posted the content is considered the megacorporation's, not yours anymore. If they are deleted there is no real positive way to know it has actually been eliminated. There are countless horror stories of people being persecuted for posts they made years ago that are no longer where you are now. There is no forgiveness, no allowance to change a mind or rethink a position without having to defend whatever may have been said previously. It really is a wonder so many people are as free with their opinions and beliefs.

Jessica Nunes of Westport, Massachusetts, was shocked when her 5-year-old daughter, Lila Varisco, secretly spent almost $3,000 on Amazon using her phone.
Nunes thought Lila was simply playing a game, but instead, the child purchased ten motorcycles and ten pairs of cowgirl boots through the app.
This surprising incident highlights the risks families face with unsupervised mobile device use by young children.
Other parents have faced similar situations, with children as young as five and six making unauthorized purchases worth hundreds or even thousands of dollars.
Experts advise families to set up parental controls, activate purchase restrictions, and explain the importance of asking for permission before buying anything online.
With children gaining more access to technology, local families are urged to take steps now to prevent unexpected expenses and teach financial responsibility early.
