This is the 40th issue of MobileFirst-Personal Websites Newsletter. Up until now I have focused on increasing awareness of the MobileFirst-Personal website platform; its advantages over traditional web development editors. There is still a lot more to write on that tangent, but as the newsletter software has evolved it has allowed a broadening of the scope of the newsletter to widen the viewpoint into new and exciting things not completely focused on the mobile first platform. It now much easier to enlarge the scope to other events and changes in the mobile first technology itself.
The MobileFirst-Personal platform is not the only website editor that creates websites for mobile phones first and primarily. There are few others that can do it so simply and specifically for people who have little technical knowledge of how to do and does not require coding at all. The fact is that it is a full featured, complete platform that can build any type or style of website you can imagine. It includes the ability to create PWA mobile applications. This expansive editor allows the scop of this newsletter to expand and cover a much broader scope that any other more constricted development system can. There is no other dedicated to bringing websites to individuals and small business at very affordable pricing to compete with anyone on an even playing field.
As such, instead of writing all the content myself or staying restricted to the platform, we are now able to broaden the reach and include other opinions and perspectives that are important for understanding the power having your own website can offer. Especially considering the growing concerns I have with government and corporation interference with your thoughts, perspectives, data and privacy.
The importance of owning and controlling your own website, and shielding its personal information is getting more and more important as governments show less and less hesitation to demand your private information from the social media, as well as the more and more inviting targets social media offers to hackers of all bents.
PWA - Progressive Web Applications is another interesting topic, as it cam take a site and make it independent of browsers and able to operate even in the absence of an internet connection. The independence of a PWA from a requirement to register and pay fees to the app stores makes it much more attractive to smaller entrepreneurs who want to be able keep their product or service in view on customer's phones at all times at budget conscious pricing.
I am able to search the news for items of interest in the entire mobile first field and expect this newsletter to become a place where the most important topics can be covered from the viewpoint of a mobile first website developer.

I was in a restaurant last weekend and saw the first truly powerful implementation of QR in changing the way the owners interact, or in this case, don't interact with the diner. The location was a relatively new Chinese restaurant doing the Sunday service for Dim Sum. I admit it has been many years since we took the trip to downtown Montreal Chinatown.
In this case the restaurant is the Imperial on the West Island. As I waited I saw the familiar trolleys moving though the restaurant dispensing dishes to the people seated at their tables. Just like I remembered it so long ago. The restaurant was very busy, so it took a while before our party of 5 got seated. The tea was already on the table and the host who seated us left a sheet of paper for marking the dishes taken - and - a separate piece of register paper that had only a QR Code on it. Without another word, he smiled and left to other tasks. He assumed we knew the drill.
We waited a few minutes for our waiter to appear, but seemed to be ignored, until one of our party decided there was no waiter coming to take any orders and took the QR code and scanned it to suddenly find our direct link into the kitchen was activated. We weren't assigned a waiter at all, it was up to us to do the food orders as we wished; on the phone.
We went through our dish selection and pressed the button to send the order. Almost immediately the drinks appeared and shortly after the food started to arrive from the various trolleys that had been moving through the aisles all along. No assigned waiter, but the food was delivered hot and fast from the trolleys as it was created. The standard dishes and drinks that were delivered were marked by hand onto the second sheet and everything moved forward smoothly.
If you are a restaurant, consider what kind of streamlining this can afford to your clients. Also, the various widgets available on our platform can allow people to order ahead with access to all options and alternatives available. The QR code opens the site in the beginning and, if the site is transformed into a PWA, it can offer the ability to contact a client at any time using a push notification.
One thing that is rarely mentioned with the MobileFirst-Personal editor is that it provides a unique QR code for each and every page that you create. This means that you can offer specific access to any page on any website you create with the platform, allowing quick and efficient access to anything on your site without the client needing to do anything but click it.
